The meeting was brought to order by PTA Vice President, Annette Rodden. PTA President Davine Sanchez was introduced. Petroglyph Principal George Jackson and the new Assistant Vice Principal Francesca VerPloegh were introduced.
Pizza was donated for the meeting by Domino’s, located at 4623 Greene NW. Petroglyph has a Domino’s Pizza Night the first Thursday of every month. Fliers go home with the students and for every family that orders Domino’s on the designated night, $2.00 is donated to Petroglyph. The class that has the largest participation wins a free pizza party.
There are two officer position openings: Programs and Membership. If anyone is interest in being in charge of these designated positions they can contact Annette Rodden. The PTA Membership drive was discussed, “Are you the Missing Piece?” PTA Membership is $12 per family and $7 per individual. Every class has been asked for a PTA Representative. The Membership drive will continue and available for sign up at the Petroglyph Open House, Wednesday, September 27, 2006.
The minutes from last years meeting did not have to be presented. Minutes are posted on the Petroglyph website.
A nomination was made for new officers as follows: Treasurer – Stacey Walker, and Secretary – Kelly Martin. A motion was made, seconded, and passed. Our new Treasurer is Stacey Walker and our new Secretary is Kelly Martin.
It was suggested that we change our by-laws to state that our General PTA Meetings should be held every other month, starting in September. A motion was presented, seconded, and passed.
Cindy Davis, our former PTA President, presented the 2006 – 2007 Budget. The details of the budget were discussed and explained. It was explained that the PTA helps to fund the Arts-in-Schools program, one bus per teacher for field trips, $200 for the APS clothing back, water bottles for the Jog-a-thon, $200 for popcorn and bags, and playground improvements. It was discussed that a new popcorn machine needs to be purchased. We profit approximately $2000 from school pictures. Kathy Cole placed a larger order for Petroglyph t-shirts. We spend approximately $1000 for teacher appreciation in the fall when teachers come back to school and a luncheon in the spring. Each teacher is given $100 to spend on their classrooms and students. The technology money helps out Tia Turner, computer labs, to purchase items that APS will not pay for. We do not try and make a profit from yearbooks. Petroglyph is a Zoo Parent and sponsors a Macaw at the Zoo. The budget was voted on and passed.
