MARIE HUGHES ELEMENTRY  LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER MISSION

The mission of the Marie Hughes Elementary Library Media Center is to nurture a love of reading, support faculty by providing resources to meet curricular goals and help students become effective users of information.

Yukon, our mascot, has been moving around to Marie Hughes classrooms who have returned all books on time.  Congratulations to our responsible book borrowers!!!

We are a school of:

1.  Enthusiastic and consistent readers

2.  Responsible book borrowers

3.  Courteous and respectful library users

Progress Measurement:

1.  We will know we are enthusiastic and consistent readers when students actively participate in reading programs such as Scholastic Read Program, Land of Enchantment, Battle of the Books and school initiated reading events.

2. We will know we are responsible book borrowers when we return our books on time.  We show improvement by reducing the number of overdue books and earning our school mascot, Yukon in our classrooms.  Yukon should move to a different classroom at least once a week.

3.  We will know we are courteous and respectful library users when we are polite to teachers, volunteers and other students and when we handle books carefully.  We will reduce lost or damaged books by 25%.
