Morning recess is considered part of a child’s instructional day.  At no time should children be left unattended in a classroom.  Children who are asked to stay in by the teacher are under his/her supervision.  We stress that all children go outdoors to play at recess.  Children who are ill should stay home until they are able to play outside.  During bad weather children are given recess indoors. If you give your class an early recess or an extra recess, you are responsible to be on duty with the class until the scheduled duty person arrives.

Please review with your class the playground safety rules.  Remember it takes 3 weeks to establish procedures and rules with the students.  The first month of school is critical for safety instruction with our students.  If you have questions regarding the rules please speak with the Physical Education Teacher.

During inclement weather recess may be cancelled.  If you need to leave for room please arrange for coverage.  Do not leave students alone.

If inclement weather is during lunch recess students will be directed to either the library or the gym.
