Lavaland presently has 3 network printers. Students and teachers can print appropriate work to printers located in Room 103, the Media Center, or the office. The printers in 103 and the Media Center are color printers. If you need to print a specialized document such as overheads, photographs, etc please see the the technology coordinator. You may change printers by going to the chooser and selecting another printer.

What is appropriate to print?

Due to the cost of printing please avoid printing items that are not student originated. If a student does original work, great! If a student wants to print pictures of Britney Spears off the net, NO! Most teachers find it is best to have a policy that the teacher must OK all printing. This can help avoid printing 300 copies of a reindeer instead of 3 copies.

What if I have a printer in my room?

If you have a printer in your room, then you will be responsible for the cost of the ink. Generally most of our older printers can only be hooked up to one printer and not the network.

Why not get more individual printers?

The cost of individual printers in low initially. The cost becomes much higher due to the costs of repair and the very high cost of ink. These considerations have lead to the district asking that schools use network printers. Lavaland has three network printers.
