Dear Teachers:
 It is VERY IMPORTANT that we are all on the same page with regard to attendance.  As we discussed, the
state is now reducing benefits for families who do  not send their children to school regularly.  It is VITAL that we
distinguish unexcused absences from those that are excused!

 To better meet the needs of our students and their families, we have developed the attendance symbols on the next
page.  IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that everyone uses the same symbols.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

 Also, the counselor will be handling most of the attendance issues this year.  (If the child is Special Ed and has social
work on their IEP please refer their attendance problems to Barbara Brandon).  Please let the counselor know as soon
as attendance becomes a concern (ie: 5 days in a 9 week period, consistent early pull-outs, consistent tardies, etc. )  If a
child has 5 tardies OR early pull-outs in a 9 week period, a parent meeting with an administrator will be required!

Please use the following symbols when marking attendance on cards:

U= Unexcused absence (Write in pencil only)

E= Excused absence (DOCTOR'S APPT. ,
DENTIST, CALLED IN ILL., OTHER
EMERGENCIES)

T= Tardy (After 8:00  ONLY)

D= Early dismissal (DISMISSAL PRIOR TO 1:45)
 

Do not send attendance cards to office until after 8:00.

5 Tardies = A meeting with an Administrator

5 Absences within one semester = Letter Home (Please refer these
to counselor.)
