      Studied the reading qand writing process at Teacher's College, New York City under the direction of Lucy McCormick Calkins.
      Five year ongoing connection to the Wrinkle Writing program through UNM; emphasizing dramatic writing with students leading to child written and
      performed mini-musicals.

     Hobbies:   Reading, ennis and the arts.
      Volunteer activities:   Directing child written minii-musicals at UNM, sponsor of Drama club at Lavaland E.

Philosophy
      Lavaland Elementary is making a commitment to use a proven literacy model to increase student learninng.   Staff members are on the third year using Four Block Literacy.   The ongoing assessment demonstrates improvement in student learning.   There is a schoolwide committment to eep families abreast of progress.   Amon other tools are utilization of a dayplanner to chart homework, nightly reading and study skills.   There is ongoing communication  taking place as parents write notes and comments in student agendas.
