CAFETERIA RULES

Teachers and classes will be assigned tables at the beginning of the year. When the EAs feel that intermediate classes have earned the right, then classes will be trained and begin OPEN SEATING POLICY.

Parents who wish to eat with their child will need to purchase a tray or bring a lunch. Parents can not eat off of a child’s tray. This is due to federal regulations.

Please encourage, discuss, and model appropriate manners and behaviors for our students. One suggestion to to talk to your class about restaurant type of behavior in the cafeteria. The expectation is that students will behave in the cafeteria as if they are going out to dinner in a restaurant.

Assemblies will be held with each grade level to discuss expectations of behavior in the cafteria. Classroom teachers can help by reinforcing these ideas in the classroom for the first three weeks or so and then reinforcing as the year goes on.

Red and green lines have been painted in the cafeteria to use as visual ques for students.

If you have an issue with a student in the cafeteria please keep punishment as private as possible. Concisitency is a key in dealing with cafeteria behaviors.

Food is not allowed on the playground. If a student brings food from home they are expected to eat it in the cafeteria. On those special occasions that a teacher allows a class to eat outside please be sure that the class does a good job on clean up. Please encourage parents to send healthy snacks and no sugar based drinks.
