"What happens if my child is identified as gifted?"

After the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) has determined need for special education services, the Individual Educational Plan is developed by the committee, including the student and the parent. The IEP is required by state law to assure that each gifted student has appropriate educational services to meet his or her unique instructional needs. This may include additional services from special education, such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, resource room, speech and language, etc.
