HOMEWORK
INFORMATION for
Lila Sanchez’ Second Grade Class
SPELLING TEST
The spelling words will go
home on Mondays. The words come from the district adopted spelling series. There
will also be two sentences. The sentences will help to reinforce capitalization
and punctuation. The spelling test will be given on Fridays. With the exception
of not having school on a Friday, there will be NO spelling for that week. The
spelling test will be graded based on 100%. The progress report card will
reflect the grade over a nine week period.
HOMEWORK
WORKSHEETS
There will be homework sheets that go home daily
and are due the following morning. The homework sheets will relate to what we
are studying in
class. The homework will be further practice and some enrichment in reading,
math or science. The work sheets should only take your child 10 – 15 minutes.
You will need to sit and help your child with reading the directions, writing
and spelling. It is very important to remember that the child needs to do the
homework, not the parent. The homework is a way to start forming strong study
habits for future education: high school and college. The work sheets will not
be graded on a percent, but rather with a check mark. Homework not turned in
will be a zero. There is also a grade on the progress reports card for homework
assignments.
AGENDAS
The agendas or the
nightly assignment folders will be filled out by the students every day.
The agenda will have the homework assignments for that day and other
information. The first two lines on each day will be reserved for behavior
comments. Parents need to initial the agenda date box every night. The
agenda is a big part of our communication.
