Fire Prevention Week
Chelwood is proud of our Join-A-School Partnership with Fire Station # 8. They are
located just a short distance away from the school and have been an active part of our
science fairs, career fairs, literacy days, technology fairs, and have helped in many
other ways. They also have brought the fire truck over to patrol the neighborhood
after school and have been willing to have our students go over to visit on field trips.
During Fire Prevention Week, Station 8 brought their fire truck to school and
conducted a parade for the students of Chelwood. The Student Council Officers were
dressed in the fire fighters uniforms and loaded onto the fire truck for a drive around
the neighborhood. The students of Chelwood lined the street and waited for the truck
to come with the sirens blaring. Mr. Vermillion was sitting in the passengers seat and
waving at the students as the truck roared by. Everyone had a great time and it was
a great way to kick off this important week.
We want to thank Fire Station 8 and all of the wonderful firemen for their time and
dedication. They truly are a special group of men.
