Marmon has adopted the researched based Harcourt Brace Trophies Series for
their Language Arts Curriculum. All second grade teachers use Trophies.
Trophies offers excellent strategies for teaching reading, writiing and language
skill. The Harcourt Trophies
curriculum is primarily second grade level with support for below grade level
and English Language learners. Reading instuction includes
phonics, spelling, vocabulary, reading strategies, and comprehension skills.
Writing instruction is based on the 6 traits writing model which includes
learning about conventions, organization, voice, Additionally parents can access support through

MATH - We use Everyday Math curriculum for our math group. Everyday
math provides spiral instruction so that students learn skills, move on and
continuously review skills. Math instruction involves
teaching operations and computation, numeration, patterns, functions and
algebra, data and chance, measurement and reference frames and geometry.
Because the Everyday Math system has a very specialized system, we encourage
all family to read the Family letters, and come in and work in the classroom
during math instruction.
