Student Insurance for Work-Study and Job Training Programs
When students participating in work-study and job training programs receive a
wage, they are eligible for workers' compensation benefits provided by their
employer if they are injured on the job. However, students working without
compensation, those receiving stipends, or those who participate in
job-shadowing, are not eligible for workers' compensation benefits.

Although many students have personal medical insurance benefits available to
facilitate the treatment of the student by the medical provider, for those who do
not, there is a concern that treatment may be denied or delayed due to the
absence of insurance.

For this reason a low cost accident insurance product has been designed to meet
the needs of uninsured students, who work without compensation in work
experience situations and for which they receive curricular credit. Coverage
extends past the end of the traditional school year if the student continues to earn
curricular credit during school vacation periods.

This insurance covers the student:
* While at the approved worksite and under direct supervision ; and,
* While traveling directly and without interruption between the school and the
worksite
* While traveling directly and without interruption between the worksite and the
student's home, provided that such travel has been arranged by and is at the
direction of the school

Policy Limits:
Maximum per injury is $250,000
Accidental Death Benefit is $10,000
Accidental Dismemberment, Paralysis, Loss of Sight up to $20,000
Motor Vehicle limit per injury is $5,000

The cost of this insurance is $7.00 per year.
