Petroglyph Elementary
General PTA Meeting – January 14, 2008
The meeting was brought to order by PTA President, Davine Sanchez. The meeting was held at 4:00 pm in the teachers lounge. Approximately 20 individuals were present at the meeting.
Audrey Wilson, first grade teacher, presented the PTA with the Golden Apple Award. The PTA was awarded the Golden Apple Award by the First Grade teachers for all the hard work PTA does for Petroglyph. Ms. Audrey discussed the “Leaving No Child Left Inside” and said that PTA has done a great job taking children “outside” with the money that has been raised to improve the playground.
The minutes from the November 12, 2007, General PTA meeting were read.
Tracey Witte, PTA Treasurer discussed the budget. The total from popcorn is $543.15, Evening of Giving $274, Carnival $411, and picture day $1802.46. The current balance in the PTA account is $30,310.38.
The PTA Giving Tree was able to provide presents for over 60 children at Petroglyph.
Winter Carnival is February 2, 2008, from 1-3pm. To date, all but four classes are participating. A poster contest is being held to promote the Winter Carnival. There will be one winner per class. Volunteers are needed to sell carnival tickets - presale will begin January 22, 2008. We need bags and prizes for the Winter Carnival.
February 28-29, 2008, is Parent Teacher Conferences. A sign-up sheet was provided for people to bring treats for the teachers.
The Spring Fundraiser will be Cookie Dough with Enchanting Treats. The fundraiser will begin February 19, 2008.
The yearbook committee will meet Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 9:15am. We would like to sell advertising to cut down the cost of the yearbooks.
In May we will be voting for new PTA officers.
March 12, 2008, will be Petroglyph Cold Stone Ice Cream Night. Mr. Jackson has volunteered to scoop ice cream. If any facility is interested in scooping ice cream, please notify Kelly Martin, 792-2288 or abqklm1@aol.com.
The next general PTA meeting will be Monday, March 3, 2008 at 7:00pm.
