Petroglyph Elementary
General PTA Meeting – May 7, 2007
PTA President Davine Sanchez conducted the meeting, the meeting was held at 7:00pm in the school cafeteria. Ten individuals were present at the meeting.
Kelly Martin, PTA Secretary read the minutes from the March PTA meeting.
Stacey Walker, PTA Treasurer discussed the budget.
Francesca VerPloegh, Petroglyph Elementary Assistant Principal discussed the Petroglyph budget. Projected enrollment for the 2007-2008 school year is 713, and 65 special education students. It was explained that the budget has to be spent, and can not be rolled over – the money goes away in June.
Amy Keller discussed the Jog-a-thon; the money made from the jog-a-thon will be counted tomorrow, May 8, 2007. Coach Montoya would like to spend the money earned on tumbling mats and volleyballs. A motion was made, and passed that the money raised from jog-a-thon would go to Coach for tumbling mats and volleyballs.
Cindy Davis provided an update on the year book and it has not gone to the printers.
The Family Celebration will be Thursday May 10th, from 5:30-8:00 pm. Character Counts Kids will perform. Tickets will be sold for 4/$1.00.
It was discussed that the PTA may sponsor a movie night in the Fall.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon will be held Tuesday, May 15th. The theme will be “Spring.” Navajo Tacos will be made for the teachers, Gina Martinez is coordinating this effort. Everyone should bring a dessert or a fruit dish.
Enchantment will be the Fall fundraiser. For every student that sells 6 or more items they will get to attend the Big Show.
We would like to host a Welcome Back on the first day of school and provide muffins.
PTA year ends June 30th. An Audit needs to be conducted by 3 people, and none can be on the board, but the board members can be present. The Audit should take 3-4 hours.
A vote was held to elect new officers. The following are the Petroglyph PTA Officers for the 2007-2008 School Year:

Treasurer: Tracey Witte
Secretary: Kelly Martin
Several positions are still open; we need a room mom coordinator, and a membership chairperson.
