The Georgia O’Keeffe Green Team is comprised of parents and teachers whose goal is to promote conservation and sustainability within the school. The Green Team organizes and sponsors activities and events to make the student body, faculty, staff, and community more aware of conservation and sustainability concepts for energy, water, and other resources (reduce, reuse, recycle). We also find ways to implement these concepts within the classroom to conserve energy and to recycle materials such as paper and plastics. One of our major goals is to provide more comprehensive recycling for the school as a whole (and APS) to avoid waste, especially during lunchtime. Water harvesting, composting, and energy conservation are also major goals for the new G.O’K. school building. The Green Team meets on a monthly basis.
