Community Collaboration
Brings Essential Services to Homeless Students and Families It takes a whole community to
provide the supports homeless students need to succeed in school. The
nurses, counselors and social workers in APS work tirelessly to obtain
medical and behavioral health services for homeless children.
In addition, eighty-five homeless students and their families received behavioral health services this year from some of Albuquerque's best private, not-for-profit agencies. The agencies, with years of experience working in our Albuquerque communities, provided case management, group and individual therapy, respite, assistance getting residential and treatment foster care, as well as medical services. We are grateful to Hogares, Healing the Children, the physicians and dentists in town, and the health and mental health professionals in APS for partnering with the Homeless Project to bring these services to students and their families. |
