| Volunteering The GBPTA is proud to serve our school and students. Our goal is simple; to provide the staff with assistance both in volunteer hours and money to provide a safe and educational community for all included. In order to be successful, we ask that you read over the listed opportunities, and think about what you can do to help our school. Questions? Please click on the Contacts page. Programs GBPTA provides several programs for the students, including guest authors, Talking Talons and Lockheed Martin Science Night. Watch for other fun PTA programs. Science Fair This is an annual event held in February which has been successfully run by Reinhard Klein, a fourth grade teacher at our school. This program is extremely organized and needing someone to come in and keep it that way! School Photos This is a wonderful opportunity to meet lots of children and have a great time. Our school has a photographic company come take the student’s and staff’s pictures in the Fall and in the Spring. The company handles the money; the chair handles the coordinating of the event between the studio and the Principal, calling upon individuals to help comb hair, etc. Yearbook A Yearbook is completed in March and distributed the last few days of school. This is great fun if you’re into photography! Executive The Executive Board consists of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and the Principal. Meetings are held monthly. Newsletter This individual would put together a monthly newsletter. Helpers are needed to copy the publication, collate, staple and distribute to the classes. Hospitality The Chairperson position coordinates two teacher appreciation breakfasts. The Chair also keeps a running list of volunteers to call for help with baking. Items will be needed throughout the school year, gathered for school events such as the Reflections Art Program, Science Fair, and Dance Nights. Fundraising This is an extremely important function in which all who attend Governor Bent fundraise for programs and items needed for the students. Two events take place during the school year; the first in September as gift-wrap sales, and the second in the spring as a Jog-A-Thon, an event loved by the kids. |
