Fundraising

The PTA works throughout the year on our fundraising efforts.  We try to coordinate our fundraising efforts with those of the school and other organizations that are involved at Governor Bent.
 
PTA STORE
This is a year long fundraiser.  The store usually opens after Labor Day and is open until May.  We stock snack items, drinks and GBES Spirit Gear.  The store is open Monday - Friday after school.  During the month of December the PTA Store transforms into the PTA Holiday Store offering quality, affordable handmade items for the students to purchase as gifts.
 
BUTTER BRAIDS
This tasty fundraiser usually runs for two weeks in October and arrives just in time for the holidays.  Butter Braids are a fruit filled pastry that is delivered frozen.  The customer thaws it out over night (which doubles its size) and bakes it in the morning.
 
FALL FESTIVAL
This was done as a trial for the 2011-2012 School Year and was a huge success.  We held a carnival with each grade level hosting a booth plus many other teachers pitching in with extra activities and food.  Children were able to win prizes/candy at the booths.  All the activities were available to all children who purchased a 20 punch card for $2.00 or a treat bag they could decorate and a 20 punch card for $5.00.  Most games cost between 1-3 punches.
 
PARENTS' NIGHT OUT
These events are hosted at different times during the year.  Children age 4-12 are allowed to attend, are fed dinner and given lots of fun activities to keep them busy while parents enjoy an evening out.  Price is usually $10.00 for the first child, $8.00 for the second child, and $6.00 for each child after that.
 
MIXED BAG DESIGNS
This is a catalog fundraiser that we tried for the first time this school year.  The Mixed Bag company offers a huge line of products created from recycled materials.  Plus our school makes 1/2 of the money from every product sold.
 
SPRING FLING
Each year on the first Friday of May (this year 5/4/12), the PTA hosts this end of year bash.  We have face painting, jumpers, the Del Norte AFJROTC Armed and Unarmed Drill Teams performing, Dinner, Sodas & Water available, followed by the Basket raffle.  Classes team up to create themed baskets that we raffle off at the end of the evening.  Raffle tickets cost $1.00 each but are available for bulk purchase prices at 6 tickets for $5.00, 12 tickets for $10.00 and 25 tickets for $20.00. This is by far our most labor intensive fundraiser but the most popular.  All the fun starts about 5pm.
 
CONTRIBUTIONS
Many people have asked if they can simply contribute a monetary donation and not have a membership or participate in the fundraising that we promote.  OF COURSE!  If you would like to make a contribution, please make out a check to GBPTA and mark it as a contribution.  We, in turn, will provide you with a letter (for your tax purposes) indicating your contribution.
