Textbooks
![]()
Textbooks are the property of the State of New Mexico and are expected to last a minimum of five (5) years. Teachers therefore must exercise care in distributing textbooks and evaluating them for previous damages. A careful listing by number of the textbooks issued is to be kept by each teacher and must be kept current. Fines for damaged and lost textbooks are charged at the end of the semester or year. Accurate accounting is essential.
Textbooks left in your classroom or found on the grounds are to be returned to the Media Center to be reclaimed by the students.
All fines collected for textbooks must be turned in to the Media Center.
Further instructions regarding textbooks will be given from time to time during the year.

PAYING FOR FINES AND LOST TEXTBOOKS
If a student owes a fine or needs to pay for a lost textbook, complete a "FINE SLIP" and give it to the student. At the same time complete a "TEXTBOOK FINE CARD" and give it to the reading consultant (cards may be obtained in the Media Center). The students will pay the librarian. Designated times and place will be announced. Please do not send students out of class to pay fines.
If a lost textbook is found and turned in to the teacher, the teacher must notify the reading consultant so the student will not be charged for the book.
