TEACHER ABSENCES

1. A teacher who is going to be absent MUST call SEMS (Substitute Employee Management System) at 848-9461 to request a substitute. They also need to notify the school by 8:00 a.m.

 

2. In the event an emergency arises and the employee is unable to call in their absence the principal's secretary is to be notified as soon as possible in order to facilitate a call in to SEMS.

 

3. Extended absences (more than four days) must have a doctor's certificate to be turned in to the principal upon the employee's return to work.

 

4. The school must be notified of the return of the absent employee before 12:00 p.m. on the day of the absence. In case of no call, the substitute is automatically retained with the exception of Friday.

 

5. It is the employee's responsibility to inform the administration of their absence and provide substitute lesson plans and current seating charts.

 

6. In the event an employee is part of a team, the team members must be able to carry on with the established lesson and be available to help the substitute with any information or assistance needed as the situation arises and warrants.
