Health Policies

The Health Office is staffed by a full-time registered nurse and a full time health assistant. The nurse is available for individual health conferences with students, teachers, and parents. Students needing to go to the health office should be sent with a pass and will be sent to the next period teachers for a pass if they come into the office during passing period except in an emergency. Students are never excused to go home unless a parent or guardian is contacted by the school and the student is picked up by the parent or guardian or their designee.

The nurse is responsible for health management plans on all students with complex medical conditions. The nurse refers students for remediation of health concerns. Students are sent to the health office for first aid, accidents, acute illness and for clarification of chronic conditions. The nurse is available for class presentations on prevention and health issues.

Accident reports are made on all serious injuries. Student accidents need to be reported immediately to the health office so that a report can be started.

The Health Office does vision, hearing, height, weight, and blood pressure screenings on all eighth graders. These screenings are done as needed with other students.

If a teacher or staff member is injured at school please report to the health office for first aid and further instructions.
