Cell Phone Policy

Students are not to have their cell phones turned on, used, or even visible during the school day. While the district DOES allow pagers and cell phones, they must be turned off and put away during school hours. (This includes lunch!)

Eisenhower Middle School staff members, with input from students, have developed the following list of consequences, should they be needed:

The consequence for using a cell phone to communicate (to send or receive voice, picture or text messages) during the school day will result in an immediate office referral.  A parent will be required to pick up the phone from the office.

The following list applies to all other circumstances:

First Offense - Warning will be given, phone will be taken, student can pick up at the end of the day.
Second Offense - Phone will be taken, parents may pick up at the end of the day.
Third Offense - Student will be required to check his/her phone in/out of the office each day.
Future Offenses - Parent/student/administrator conference will be held - consequence will be determined.

Please note: Any time a phone is turned into the office, it will be locked up and receipted in order to provide accountability.

It is unfortunate that we must enforce these steps; however, students' use of cell phones continues to be disruptive to our learning environment. Such activities as text messaging answers to tests or even taking pictures of a test not only disrupt classes but also are a form of cheating, and will be treated as such.

Should one of our students need to call home for an emergency, he/she must go to the Counseling Office, Nurse's Office, or the Administrative Offices to make the call.
