The True Story of Cinderella

By Niya Datye, 8th-Grade Student

Once upon a time in a far away land of Physics, lived a girl named Prudence, but her evil step mother called her Algebra because she would have to do all of the math jobs in the land of Physics. Algebra would also have to do the common house hold jobs such as sweep the miliscule dust particles up and mop the floors with a base of 50% water and 50% soap.

One day Algebra was roaming the streets that were made of pebbles, she had just done the weeks shopping at the nearest Albertsons. She was just thinking about how long it would take her to mop and sweep the whole house. She decided to use the knowledge that her father had given her about the equation of a line. Once she got home she got a piece of parchement and a quill and sat down. She said to her self that it takes her about 30 min. to sweep and mop the first floor(there were 5 floors in the house). It took her about 1 hour to sweep and mop the 2nd floor of the house, and it took her 2.5 hours to mop her 3rd floor. This was her graph:

With this she realized that she had to divide y by x to get her slope. With that she would just have to plug in numbers. She was very satisfiedwith her ability to write the equation for a line. Sure enough she had gotten her answer very close to the time she had gotten with her graph. Her sisters who had been asleep all day had just woken up and were calling for her. "Algebra, Algebra! Where art thou Algebra."

"Coming sisters. What is it that you need?"

" I want my tea, and I don't want it to be too hot like you did last time. It's temp. to be 85 degrees celsius, because our boiling point here in Physics land is 94.5 degrees Celsius!"

"Yes, Robyn, and anything for you Diane?"

"Yes, Algebra, I want you to finish my homework for Mr. Brugge's class. We are working on quadratic equations. You have to do all 1,000 problems, and I expect to get them all right!!"

"Yes, Diane." And with that Algebra was off for her long day at work with her sisters math and science questions, and making tea for her other sister, When Algebra got down stairs she had realized that she had forgot to ask her mother if there was anything that her mother had wanted. She know for that that she would greatly pay. So she went back up the stairs and walked up to her evil step mothers room. She opened the door and realized that her step-mother was waiting for her.

"Is there anything that you would want step-mother, tea, coffe, etc."

"You are late! Where have you been?"

"I have been asking my sisters whether they would like something."

"You know because you are late that you are going to get extra chores, and that you will not be able to accompany us at the ball, won't that be fun? That just shows me what your priorities are. Never do i want you to go to my daughters rooms before me. My room has a chill Algebra, start the fire. Oh, no, we have no fire wood, you will have to go into the woods and get some more wood. You better be back soon so that you will be able to assist us in getting ready for the ball."

"Yes, Step-Mother. I will go right away." So Algebra started off to the woods. Little did she know what was in store for her in the woods. She had deduced that if she walked 50 meters and her speed was 1.5 meters per second that it would only take her approximitly 6 min.Algebra's calculations could not have been more perfect. It took her exactly 6 min.

When Algebra was in the forest chopping fire wood thinking about the ball, she saw two characters that she had never seen before. Once she was finished cutting wood she walked up to them. It turned out to be a little girl with a red hood, and a big handsome wolf. They were talking about the little girl's grandmother by the time that Algebra walked up. "Hi I am Algebra, nice to meet you."

"I am Little Red Riding Hood." Said the girl with the red cloak, "Well you only think that my cloak is red, but actually my cloak is soaking in all but red photons. Isn't that interesting?"

"My name is Mr. Wolf. Some people think that I am really scary so I have no friends except for Little Red Riding Hood."

"Yes, everybody thinks that Mr. Wolf is a terrifying monster, but he is actually my best friend," said Little Red Riding Hood with a grin.

With that Algebra knew that she had made new friends. Suddenly she had realized that it was starting to get dark and that she had to get back to her house immediately. She had promised them that she would meet them in the woods tomorrow, and with that she had taken off. By the time that she had gotten back it was almost completely dark. Her sisters were in there complaining to their mother.

"Where is Algebra? Mother, where is Algebra?" said Robyn very angrily.

"She is supposed to be here right now mother!" Diane said hysterically.

"Here I am. I am coming." Algebra said in a hurry.

"Get us ready, NOW!" So Algebra knowing her duty got them ready in about 15 min. They left without even saying thank-you. Algebra didn't care that her family did not care about her feelings, she had made friends today.

She turned around and saw Mr. Wolf who was on one knee with a ring. He was proposing! "Will you marry me, Algebra?"

"Yes, I will." By the time that Algebra's family had come back home they had come in and they saw the wolf and Algebra together. They got so scared that they ran away and nobody had ever seen them again.

Algebra and Mr. Wolf lived happily ever after. Everyone soon realized that Mr. Wolf was a nice wolf, and had finally got the respect that he had deserved.
