At Comanche, there are approximately
40 students whose home language is other than English. There are
10 languages represented including Spanish, Cantonese, Urdu, Vietnamese,
Arabic, Persian and Thai. Students are tested every year to determine
their progress as English language speakers and writers. Teachers
who have received ESL certification, work with non-English proficient students
on a daily basis.
As the resource person for
comanche, I:
train teachers to administer tests and assist as needed,
see that scores are entered into district records,
maintain testing records,
notify teachers and parents of student progress,
act as liaison between teachers and district resources.
