Welcome to the new year 2002 and to our new webpage.Thank you so much for all the lovely wishes and gifts from the
holidays. We wish you all joy, health and peace in the coming year.
Our class is thrilled to be hosting a visit from a real, live published
author. Her name is Madge Harrah and she is the author of many
books including My Brother, My Enemy and Honey Girl. The
scoop is that Ms. Harrah is a terrific speaker and excellent motivator.
She will be with us on Tues. Jan. 15 from 9:30 to 11:30.January will be an extremely busy month for our class. The science
projects are due at the end of Jan. and the activities for the Nation
Grows Contractare due on the next three following Wednesdays.
We are beginning a timed writing exercise three to four times a week.
We will give the children a writing prompt and 15 minutes to write,
five minutes to edit with a peer and another 15 to rewrite a finished
copy. We have decided that we need to write more and a lot of time
is spent dilly dallying.
Report cards will be sent out on Mon. Jan. 14.
We truly believe that the children are capable of what we expect of
them and we appreciate your support and assistance.All the students now have a slim blue grade book. They will keep
track of all their recorded grades in math, spelling, social studies and
science. This will be time consuming for us but it will help the
children be aware of missing assignments and low grades. We are
almost always willing to have students redo an assignment they did
not understand.
