| LIBRARY NEWS
Return Books: It’s that time of year again. Please check
all
bookshelves and backpacks for any library books from Alvarado.
We are checking out our last books on Friday, May 3rd and then we need
to have them returned by Friday, May 10th or 17th. Help us get all
library books back in so we can do our inventory.
Caldecott Club: Last day to turn in forms is May 10, 2002.
It’s been a great year for Caldecott Club. We are going to end
the club this year on May 10th. Please submit any forms you have
before this date to get credit.
We will start anew next year and need help from any parents or
grandparents for our record keeping. Please contact Susan Haywood,
Librarian, if you can help.
Thanks for the super job all the students have done reading this school
year. Keep reading over the summer!

SCIENCE
IS EVERYWHERE
The National Atomic Museum’s Summer Camp 2002 is expanding their
summer science day camp program. This summer the camps will be located
at several sites throughout the city. Their goal remains the same,
to create positive feelings about science and science activities.
In 25 weeklong programs, they try to establish a sense of wonder about
the environment, robotics, energy, rocketry, engineering, photography,
computers, math and weird science! The first camp session begins
June 3 and the final camp session of the summer ends August 9th.
Be an early bird and start planning now! Camps fill up quickly.
Summer 2002 promises to be another successful series of hands-on science.
There will be no camp the week of July 1 to July 5. Camp hours
are 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, campers can arrive at 8:00 AM and be picked up
by 4:00 PM. There is an optional early arrival beginning at 7:00
AM, and late departure until 5:00 PM for an additional fee.
Camp Locations: McCollum Elementary School
National Hispanic Cultural Center of New Mexico
Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce
YDI / Intel Computer Clubhouse

the regular 8:30

t-shirt per child, camp newsletter, field trip fees
