College and Career Readiness

All students will graduate – without the need for remediation – having the skills, attitudes and characteristics to prepare them for post-secondary education, careers and life in an ever-evolving   global community.

Focus Areas:

  • Align instructional materials to standards, provide academic support to students not meeting standards, and utilize research-based instructional strategies
  • Develop schools, schedules and course offerings to retain students and improve their success rates
  • Create smooth transitions especially for students moving from one level to the next
  • Align assessments with college and career readiness strategies
  • Develop partnerships that extend student learning beyond the classroom including internships, apprenticeships and on-the-job training

Strategy 1:  Evidence-based instructional practices built on CCSS in all classrooms

Strategy 2: Aligned Student Assessments to CCSS K-12

Strategy 3:  Support and equip teachers for success in providing rigorous instruction

  • Provide PD on culturally relevant standards-based instruction and differentiation
  • Continued support of teachers to ensure strong pre-, first, re-teach and acceleration
  • Personalized teacher learning to support career-long growth including on-boarding, sustaining and leadership
  • Provide time for vertical and horizontal content alignment and articulation
  • Infuse existing and new technology strategies and resources to transform classroom and teacher learning
  • Evidence of implementation of PD
  • Satisfaction and retention of teachers

Strategy 4:  Provide equity of access to a variety of programming and choice throughout the district.
