Thankful for the APS Family

Read Superintendent Reedy's Thanksgiving message to employees.

This is the season of senses.

The sight of orange and brown paper turkeys and pumpkins covering the walls of our elementary schools.

The sound of bands, orchestras and choirs rehearing holiday music for upcoming concerts.

The smell of turkey and all the trimmings arising from school cafeterias and office parties.

The scrumptious taste of that turkey and all those trimmings!

The feel of the cool morning air against our cheeks and the soft brush of fleece on our skin.

Of course, at Thanksgiving, we also feel with our hearts a strong sense of gratitude for those in our lives. In my case, that includes all members of the Albuquerque Public Schools family.

What a big, beautiful family we are! I am thankful for each unique member of this wonderful team. I appreciate your dedication to the students we serve. They are our purpose; you are their shining light.

I am thankful for your creativity and innovation, your patience and kindness, your devotion and determination. We share so much each school year. Lots of laughter. Too many tears. Success and disappointment. Frustration and satisfaction. Together, we persevere on a mission of utmost importance. Future generations are counting on us!

Blame my sentimentality on heightened senses during the holidays, but know I truly am grateful that you are a part of the APS family. I wish you and yours a fulfilling (and filling) Thanksgiving and a wonderful and safe holiday season.
