APS Budget Update from Superintendent Brooks

Dear APS Employees,

Some of you may see or hear reports over the weekend speculating on deeper cuts to public education funding than initially expected.

It is far too soon to know how this will impact APS. We are in contact with the state Public Education Department and the Board of Education and are monitoring the situation closely.

We’ve all got important work ahead of us. High-stakes SBA testing continues in many of our elementary and middle schools and begins next week in our high schools. Graduation is just around the corner. You’re all busy preparing students to advance to the next grade level.

For those who are already working on budgeting issues, I’d encourage you to continue those efforts. I will be back in touch with you next week with an update. I know you will keep our core mission—the education of our children—as your focus. Thank you again for all that you do.
