Biography

Dr. Gallegos is in his 37th year as a New Mexico educator with over 30 years as an administrator. His career includes:

Albuquerque Public Schools

• Currently Assistant Superintendent for School and Community Support
• Assistant Superintendent for Continuous Improvement (2005-08)
• Assistant Superintendent for the Superintendent’s Schools (2001 to 2005)
• Assistant Superintendent for School Reform and Performance Counts (1999 to 2001)

New Mexico Public Education Department

• Assistant Superintendent for Learning Services (1997 to 1999)
• State Director, Special Education Office (1994 to 1997)

Central Regional Educational Cooperative

• Executive Director (1985-1994)

Albuquerque Public Schools

• North Area Coordinator of Special Education (1980-1985)

Dr. Gallegos received his doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of New Mexico in 2004. He also holds a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from the University of New Mexico.
