Instruction and Accountability at APS
Rose-Ann McKernan oversees instruction and accountability at Albuquerque Public Schools, including:
- Curriculum and Assessment
- Indian Education
- Language and Cultural Equity
- Research, Deployment, and Accountability (RDA)
- Student Information Systems (SIS)
Rose-Ann McKernan also serves as the APS Section 504 Coordinator.
Biography
Ms. McKernan oversees development and coordination of instrucitonal support services and assessment and accountability to the distirct and schools through supervision of six instruction and instructionally related departments: C&A, IED, LCE, OPD, RDA and SIS
Her experience includes:
- Executive Director of Instruction and Accountability July 2007 to present
- Director of RDA November 1997 to 2007
- RDA Evaluation and Reserach Coordinator October 1985 - November 1997
Prior to working in APS, Rose-Ann worked in Children's Mental Health as Clinical Administrator and Director of Children and Youth Mental Health Services in Memphis Tennessee for the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Mental Retradation.
Rose-Ann has presented at national and regional conferences on accountability, assessment and dropout prevention including: The Council of The Great City Schools (2001, 2004, 2006), Council of Chief State School Officers, National and Rocky Mountain American Educational Resesarch Association; the National Dropout Prevention Network.
Rose-Ann's degrees and post-graduate work have been at the Universtiy of Georgia and Memphis State University (curently University of Memphis) in the areas of special education, reserach and school psychology.
Rose-Ann served on the Southwest Regional Council for the College Board; Southwest Educational Development Lab trainer and reviewer for Leadership for Change; state education department Blue Ribbion Accountability Committees, State Superintendent assessment advisory committees and most recently on the Secretary's Assessment and Accountability Advisory Committee.
