A letter from Superintendent Dr. Luis Valentino.

Dear APS Community,

It feels exhilarating to connect with you as Superintendent of Albuquerque Public Schools. I’m ready to begin the work of moving APS forward to become a nationally recognized high-performing school district.

I’ve spent the past few months preparing for the job, talking to students, parents, employees and community partners to get a sense of what lies ahead. What I’ve learned so far is that this city cares a great deal about the future of our young people. I do, too. Together, I believe we can define a vision, set priorities and commit to our most important goal – preparing our students for the ever-changing world they are about to enter.

You have my word that the focus of APS will be student achievement. We will emphasize best practices both in and out of the classroom, offering the best possible instruction to our students, marshaling all possible resources to our schools and providing the support needed to raise the bar on student success.

We will strive to share clear expectations – the first being that giving your best is the expectation for all.

Please know I am deeply honored to serve as your superintendent. I’m looking forward to learning and growing with you. I know the work we’re about to embark upon is challenging, but I’m confident that together we will make Albuquerque Public Schools one of the best school districts in the country.

Sincerely,

Dr. Luis Valentino, APS Superintendent
