Board Member Dr. David Peercy Becomes “Master” from New Mexico School Boards Association

Albuquerque Public Schools Board Member Dr. David Peercy recently was recognized by the New Mexico School Boards Association as a Master Board Member.  Peercy becomes one of only a few dozen board members statewide who have been honored with the recognition.  Peercy who has served on the board since 2009 said before the ceremony, “Doing this is just the type of person I am,” after being asked about the recognition.

The New Mexico School Boards Association developed the Master Board Member Program to develop a group of school board members who could mentor and teach other board members from across the state.  Peercy went through more than 36 hours of professional development training spent several days working with the New Mexico Legislative Education Study Committee on educational issues and presented at state and national conferences.

Peercy currently serves as the chair of the APS Board’s Policy and Instruction Committee and is very active throughout the district including District 7, which he represents.  He also has presented this year at the Council of the Greater City Schools annual conference and at two of the New Mexico School Boards Association’s conferences.
