Biography

Yolanda Montoya-Cordova, MSW, is a native New Mexican and life-time resident of the South Valley neighborhood of Albuquerque. She is currently employed as the State Administrator for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) for the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions. In her role, she provides statewide oversight for the administration and implementation of workforce development programs in partnership with the four local regional workforce development boards, state and community partners including public and higher education, divisions of vocational rehabilitation, and senior employment. Her areas of expertise are community and partnership engagement, public policy development, program implementation and evaluation.

Ms. Montoya-Cordova attended the University of New Mexico and the University of Texas and holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Her work experiences child welfare, child and family mental health, special education, school nursing and school-based health centers. Ms. Montoya-Cordova currently serves as a volunteer treasurer for the Stables Homeowners Association and was previously a volunteer board member for Pegasus Children’s Legal Services. She held an adjunct professorship with New Mexico Highlands University School of Social Work teaching graduate-level courses in leadership and administration and was also an instructor for El Paso Community College in the sign language interpreter training program.   

Ms. Montoya-Cordova is the proud mother of one daughter who resides in Portland, Oregon and a bonus mom to her late husband’s three children who all reside in New Mexico.
